  • What’s too much and what’s not enough?? Balancing presence and attitude with being efficient with our ability to see and correct requires a never ending pursuit of knowledge and personal connection. 
1) In a Metcon we are constrained by time.  Our interactions need to quick and clear.  The athlete needs to get the points they can correct quickly.  The longer we take to communicate the less they understand and we drive down intensity.  Balancing of technique and intensity mandates effective efficient cues. 
2) On strength days we have more time to elaborate on the nuances of the lifts.  We can talk about technique and where things went wrong.  We can focus on different aspects of lifting as the load increases and they experience different challenges. 
Take the time to talk through things with athletes on heavy days.  Connect with them, get them that PR if its within their grasp. 
Being long winded during a metcon is ineffective, while being too concise during a lifting session can be equally ineffective. 
Dedicated heavy days are one of the single most effective ways to build community.
